Village Boards and Commissions The Village of Kenilworth is fortunate to be served by a number of resident volunteers who use their talents and interests to assist in the governance of the Village through service on a Board or Commission. If you would like to Volunteer for a Board or Commission, please fill out a Volunteer Application and submit it at the Village Hall. The standing Boards and Commissions of the Village of Kenilworth are as follows: Architectural Review Commission Emergency Telephone System Board Architectural Review Commission The purpose of the Architectural Review Commission is to provide aesthetic review of all applications for alterations to existing commercial properties or construction of new commercial properties. The Commission consists of 5 members. The members of the Commission are as follows:
Staff: The Building Review Commission is a seven member body, appointed jointly by the President and Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Building Review Commission is to review all applications for demolition to determine if the application involves a property of historical and/or architectural significance. If the Commission makes such a determination, it may delay the issuance of a demolition permit for up to a year to allow for the study of alternatives to demolition. Members of the Building Review Commission serve three year terms. The Commission meets on an as-needed basis. The members of the Commission are as follows:
Staff: Emergency Telephone System Board The Emergency Telephone System Board is a five member body, appointed jointly by the President and Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Emergency Telephone System Board is to plan for the maintenance and improvement of the Emergency Telephone System, and to procure the necessary funds, through the E-911 surcharge, to provide for the support. The Board meets on an as-needed basis. The members of the Board are as follows:
The Zoning Board of Appeals is a seven member body, appointed jointly by the President and Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Zoning Board of Appeals is to review applications for variations from the requirements of the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Kenilworth. The ZBA also serves as the public hearing body for Special Use Permits, and is the appellate body for those seeking relief from a determination of the Building Commissioner on matters relating to the interpretation of the Zoning Ordinance. Members of the Zoning Board of Appeals serve five years terms. The Board meets on an as-needed basis. The members of the Zoning Board of Appeals are as follows:
Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Schedule Staff: Barbara A. Adams, Village Legal Counsel The Plan Commission is a ten member body, appointed jointly by the President and Board of Trustees.
The purpose of the Plan Commission is to undertake long-range planning
for the Village, and to consider and issue recommendations on proposed
subdivisions and/or consolidations of land.
The
Village Board altered the composition of the Plan Commission
from 7 at-large members and 4 ex-officio members to 8 at-large
members and one member of the Village Board and the Zoning
Board Chairperson for a total of 10 members.
